As usual, work weekend was very successful. The sound and light booth is completely rebuilt.  It came out great.  A big thanks to everyone that helped. Carpenter Jeff and Donny’s tractor were invaluable.

We decided not to have stage lights or music after dark, so Mike and I made an 18 ft by 12 ft movie screen and hung it from the stage ceiling.  We showed movies every night.  We showed Blues Brothers, Woodstock, The Wall, and a Grateful Dead concert.  It was a good way to feel together, still social distance or stay in our own covid pod.

During the day on Saturday and Sunday we had some live music from the stage.  We had Super D and the Double Chucks, American Ego, the Ringtones, Al Radley solo and Laughing Fox.

Lana had shirts and bandanas, the food court was open.  We had no showers, no Wine and Cheese, and the group photo was one guy on the stage.  No group activities.  Despite this damn-demic, we all really had a great time.

Hopefully next year things will be like the before times.  That’s what we’re aiming for.  So hang in there, stay safe, and be kind.

Thanks everyone, see you next year,   AL

With great sadness in my heart, after much consideration and deliberation, Baystock has been officially cancelled for 2020.  Covid has claimed another victim.

I don’t like it, but it is probably the wise thing to do.

There will be no scheduled live music.  I have talked with a lot of people over the last few days and everyone is disappointed, but no one is surprised.  To Baystockers who might be camping, please be kind to your neighbors and keep yourself safe.  Perhaps a better word than cancelled is postponed until 2021.

The goal is to live to fight another day.  Stay well and stay safe, see you all soon, Al

This year, we will have a shortened Baystock. We will only have bands on Saturday and Sunday.

We ask everyone to observe social distancing and the use of face coverings. Especially, when we are in a group environment, or other people’s campsites.

We will also be missing several things, this year. We will not have the Coffee Shop, Showers, Wine and Cheese, or the shared mobile phone booster.

We will have Daphne’s food court and Lana’s Shirt Shack.

We will also be having our Group Meeting, but it will be in the bowl, in front of the stage.

The Group Photo will be Taken from the fire pit, down to the bowl, so people can be distanced from each other.

If you are in one of the bands, please bring your own microphone.

Thank you for making it a safe and enjoyable Baystock 2020!

We did it again.  So many people have told me Baystock 2019 was the best ever, and I agree.  We had great music, great weather, and great people.  Thanks to everyone who cleared downed trees, came to work weekend, and maintained the infrastructure.  Also thanks to everyone for cleaning up Baystockland.  On Wednesday, Sue and I searched the grounds for trash and found nothing.  Not one piece of trash.  Thanks so much, Happy 40th Baystock.  This year, we all arrived at the right place at the right time.  As Carlos Santana says, the universe conspired to give us something, and we were open to receive it.  Later,  Al

Happy Baystock.  Every year I say it, “This was the best Baystock, again”.  It really is better every year.  On behalf of all Baystockers, I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make Baystock 2018 happen.  It’s a big job, and the challenge was well met.  To those suffering from Post Baystock Depression (PBD), cheer up knowing next year is the 40th Baystock.  See you next year, Happy Baystock, Al

This year’s schedule has been released. As you can see, we have added a couple more bands to the line-up, on Friday night. I wonder how long it will be, before this thing becomes a full week 🙂

Work weekend is the 18th and 19th. So, if you are handy and have tools, feel free to show up. There is always something to do. You don’t even need to be handy or have tools. Just come by for some prepping.

Short list of things to do:
– Gather firewood
– Weed wack and clear brush.
– Move benches and fire pit.
– Patch up the outhouses and other structures.
– Drink beer.

On a sad note, fellow Baystocker, Ryan Martin, passed away, this last May: http://cremationsocietyofmn.com/obituaries/ryan-keith-martin/

From Al:

Happy Baystock Everyone,  2016 was the best Baystock ever, again.  We made it the whole weekend without rain.  This was probably because we have a roof on the stage.  Thanks to everyone who helped out in any way.  This is definitely a group effort of immense proportion.  There are a lot of photos posted here, so enjoy.

Thanks again,

Al

Howdy Everyone,
Baystock 2015 is fast approaching.  36 years.  Amazing.  Work weekend is this weekend, August 22nd and 23rd.  If you can make it, there is alwaysn a lot to do.  And it is always a lot of fun.
Some of the things on the list are:
– Gather firewood – we cut down some dead treees last weekend so we need to haul the wood to the main fire.
– Weed wack and clear brush.
– Move benches and fire pit.
– We’re building a staging area (green room) by the stage to make it easier for bands and equipment to come and go.
– Patch up the outhouses.
– Stain the new shower and haul the old one to the fire.
– Drink beer.
Thanks everyone for all you do.  Baystock is about music, but it’s also about people.  Love to all,  Al

Wow, are there some great improvements, this year. The stage was torn apart, properly adjusted and re-fitted with a new floor. Also, the old shower was taken down and a new one has been put up!

During the work weekend, the stage gave up a bounty of old cans of corn, as well as bees! Yes, not only ticks, but also bees, for 2014!

Message from Al:  “Thank you to everyone who came out to work weekend.  A lot got done.  Reinforcement and new top on the stage, and the shower is on the way.  Thanks to all”

Well, here we are. Getting ready for Baystock 2014. Rumor has it that the deer ticks are in full force. So, bring  plenty of repellent, and make sure you don’t burn the place down (I know some of you may take some desperate actions).

As many of you know, a few years ago, a decision was been made to buy the land out of the state program, and save our trees. To do this, we needed pay the back taxes, since the land was entered into the state program, amounting to about $22,000. Well, that full amount has been paid off.  Thank you all, for your contributions towards the freedom of Baystockland. They have been sincerely appreciated.

About the work weekend: Al says “there is a lot of work to do”. The official Baystock work weekend is two weeks prior to Baystock.  It involves power tools and beer.  The big projects are a new shower and a new floor for the stage.  The support beams for the stage were 40 years old in 1993 so we’re not sure what it will look like under the plywood.  We may have to replace some beams also.  There more specifics from Al about what people might bring (weedwhackers, drills, shovels, beer, imported beer etc.) as they come in.

If you re interested in helping out, contact Andy, with your contact info, and I’ll make sure your name gets to Al.

This last year, we lost a great friend. Dave Sky found his way to Baystock, and remained one of the most treasured people and artist, we have ever had. We will truly miss him. Baystock will not be the same, without Dave. Head over to the Dave Sky page to see some of his performances, from last year.
